Nice walking trails and pretty views. We love coming with our kids. Playground with bathroom... and fun little nature center with some reptiles. Good spot to be outdoors!

This is Great resource for the area. The are plenty of trails for hiking and riding (bikes or horses), and walking the dog. The are boating facilities/rentals. There is a playground for little ones. Bathrooms on site. Camping and yurt rentals are not too far from the parking lot. There are plenty of places for a picnic. There are even animal displays (snakes and turtles mostly) in the visitors center. Overall, it is a great, convenient, place to spend a day in nature alone or with family and friends.

It's beautiful! Lovely, well-taken care of. I forgot to get my second dog her tag once she was old enough to start going with our other dog, and the ranger was really rude about it (literally said "get out") but as long as you have the membership tags you're good.

I'm from southwestern VA and walking through Sandy Bottom felt just like being home! All of the kids seemed to be having a wonderful time!

A great plave to get your fix of nature! The visitor's center has all kinds of neat resources and some cool critters, there is a dog park and a nice trail for going on a walk or bike ride. Absolutely beautiful in the fall!

This is a great park! Very quiet and wooded with several hiking trails. Perfect place to take the dogs for a nice walk. It’s never too crowded, so you really get that nature feel. Great place to see wildlife, such as herons, turtles and snakes. My favorite thing to do here is rent a boat (canoe or paddle boat) and spend some time out on the lake. It’s very peaceful and they also allow you to bring your dogs on the boats, which is a major plus! The park also allows tent camping and has really cute yurts that you can rent out. Definitely a great place to spend the afternoon!
