The room itself was the only redeeming quality, which is why I’m giving this hotel two stars. We stayed 4 nights for an event back in September, and the staff was very difficult to deal with. We were planning to arrive after midnight on the night our reservation began, so we called that day to make sure we could check in late and keep our room. The staff assured us it was no problem. We called back again a couple of hours later to check, and our reservation had been completely deleted even before the usual check-in time. We had to jump through hoops to get it back even though it a hotel employee’s error. Later that evening before arriving, we called back once again to check on our reservation and it had been deleted yet again even after being assured a late check-in was no problem. We were coming for a large event where rooms were scarce, so if our rooms had been given away we would not have a place to stay 12 hours from home. Otherwise we would have found a different hotel after this hassle. However, we jumped through hoops once again to have our reservation re-confirmed. When we finally arrived late that evening, Erika, the front desk employee was quite condescending and a bit rude. We were paying over $2000 to them combined for our stay so you’d think the employees would be a bit kinder after several errors on their part, and you’d think it wouldn’t be so difficult to keep a room we’d reserved for months that we agreed to pay over $2000 for. If we return to this city, we will not be patronizing this hotel again.
I very much enjoyed my overnight stay at the Hilton Garden Inn near to the Hampton Coliseum center. The suite was very well kept up and tidy. It had a lot of space for a family of 4. I will surely stay again.
Rooms were clean, there were no general issues; free parking; $10 breakfast buffet with hot item menu. I do recommend this hotel. However, arrived very late and some entry doors couldn't be badged open with my key card and I had to walk around the building to another door -- at midnight I just wanted to go to bed. Water was very slow to warm in the shower, and it took a long time to adjust temperature -- about 4 minutes to get it right. The free weights in the gym were lacking -- didn't go above 50 lbs dumb bell, but they did have a cross-over cable machine. TV channels were local only. Wanted a 24-hr news channel but only local affiliates.
Clean room, friendly and helpful staff. Free breakfast with made too order omelets. Jacuzzi and indoor pool. Best is all: decent WiFi and Ethernet connections!
Staff and guests smoke immediately outside of the front entrance although there is signage prohibiting it. Personally my policy would be if I see smoke I'll assume you're on fire and hose you down. This hotel doesn't share my view. I did give them a 5 star review, because although nicotine addicted the staff gave excellent service. Front desk, housekeeping, and food service staff are all awesome. Next time I will give them all nicotine patches along with gratuity.
